Intellectual Property and Attribution
- Authors and institutions retain ownership of their datasets and scientific results.
- Each dataset is associated with an explicit license (open or restricted), defined at the time of registration or editing.
- The platform displays visible attribution for authors and institutions in interfaces, reports, and, where applicable, the API.
Revenue Model and Sharing
- Curated datasets may generate revenue. As a general guideline, authors receive approximately 20–40% and the platform 60–80%, depending on the service and agreement.
- Monetized API access may allocate around 10–20% of attributable usage to authors, with the remainder to the platform and infrastructure.
- Multi-author reports and dashboards follow proportional or predefined distribution rules, always documented in the corresponding annexes.
- Authors and institutions can access dashboards with usage metrics, revenue summaries, and settlement history.
Taxation and Jurisdiction
- The platform is hosted and fiscally domiciled in Canada (Funio).
- The main administrator operates from Colombia and is subject to Colombian tax obligations.
- The Canada–Colombia tax treaty is used to avoid double taxation where applicable.
- Each user, author, or institution is responsible for complying with the tax rules of their own country.
Plans and Access
- Freemium plan: basic viewing, comments, and taxonomic navigation. Price: free.
- Institutional plan: REST API, branding, usage reports, and dedicated support. Price: typically 200–500 USD/month, depending on scope and region.
